A delegation of professors-epidemiologists from South Korea, Yonsei University, arrived in Tashkent with the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The visit of foreign experts is carried out within the framework of the 2nd Phase Project for Quality Improvement of Diagnosis in Patients with Infectious Disease in Uzbekistan (Strengthening Food and Water Borne Disease Surveillance).

This project, with a budget of 6,0 mln US Dollars, is implemented in accordance with the Framework agreement for allocation of grant-aid, signed between the Governments of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Korea on 03.12.2013, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers №333 of 04.12.2014. The project implementation period is 2013-2018.

On June 21, 2018 a meeting with foreign health experts was organized in the TIPME’s conference hall. The meeting was held in the form of a seminar titled "The Strategy of International Cooperation of the Tashkent Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education with the Yonsei University of South Korea: Domestic and Foreign Experience". As part of the main course of the seminar, Korean experts shared foreign experience in improving the quality of postgraduate education.

The rector of TIPME, Professor Akilov Kh.A. delivered a welcoming speech. The rector noted that the Republic of Korea is one of Uzbekistan’s closest partners. The basis for this lies in a deep friendship between the people of the two nations.

Over the past years, Uzbekistan has been developing rapidly in all spheres, and the Korean colleagues are helping us very much. Professor Akilov stated that many Korean specialists work Uzbekistan in healthcare. Moreover, in the government structure, there are deputy ministers and advisers to the ministers from the Republic of Korea.

The rector thanked the Korean delegation for the great efforts and works carried out in Uzbekistan and wished for a successful completion of the project, as well as the continuation of joint works on new projects in the future.
