Women’s Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development of France (ACTED) launched a project to strengthen the role of women by protecting their rights and increasing their labor activity in Uzbekistan. The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union.

In order to strengthen the role of women’s NGOs in promoting human rights, gender equality and effective governance in Uzbekistan, the project will aim to strengthen the capacity of civil society by expanding legal opportunities, protecting women’s economic and social interests, and preventing violations of their rights.

It should be noted that in accordance with the "Strategy of Actions for Further Development of Uzbekistan 2017-2021", the project will contribute to creating jobs and empowering women in rural areas.

The project was launched in January 2018 and will last until 31 December 2019. The project will be implemented in Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent.

The partner organizations of this project are: NGO Mehr Kozda, Center for Social Protection of the Family Oyidin Nur and NGO Rakhmdallik.

The main target groups of the project are women’s committees in the field, NGOs, vulnerable women living in rural areas, and also local and national authorities.

The total number of beneficiaries of the project will include the female population of the target areas, which will be approximately 1,082,000 women.

Within the framework of the project, the National Platform for Gender Equality (NPHR) will be created which will promote awareness of the prevention of violations of the rights of women and girls and will contribute to the contribution of women’s civil society organizations to the development of a gender policy.
