Humanitarian aid, including food and medication, was dispatched to Afghanistan on the instruction of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the press service of Surkhandarya province governor’s office said.

In addition, the people in Balkh province in Afghanistan will be able to undergo a free medical check-ups by skilled physicians from Uzbekistan from December 25 to 30. A Health Train consisting of nine medical carriages will be used for this.

The humanitarian aid was reportedly provided at the request of the Afghan side, voiced at a bilateral meeting of the governments.

The delivery of the cargo was ensured by the Surkhandarya province governor Ulugbek Kosimov, officials of the ministries of transport and foreign affairs, as well as Uzbekistan Railways.
