Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov in Doha met with Qatari Deputy PM/ Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
The counterparts reportedly discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations in the political, trade-economic, investment, tourist, cultural and humanitarian fields, bilateral cooperation within the international bodies.
The foreign ministers confirmed mutual interest in developing Uzbek-Qatar ties, underscoring the importance of stepping up contacts at various levels and formats, including regular inter-MFA political consultations, which will help identify the most promising areas and focus on them.
The sides focused on the issues of cooperation in implementing important initiatives of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the establishment of the Imam Bukhari International Research Center in Samarkand, the Center for Islamic Civilization and the Islamic Academy in Tashkent.
The ministers also discussed the implementation of the Tashkent Declaration of the conference on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, in which the delegation of Qatar participated.
