The actions of of government officials that force employees of budget financed and other organizations and students to perform cleaning works, as well as agriculture works damage Uzbekistan's reputation, the May 10 government's Additional Measures to Eliminate Forced Labor in Uzbekistan Decree.
In addition to violating the norms of labor legislation, officials allow "abuse of office, intimidation [of citizens], use of non-normative vocabulary and even assault on them," the resolution says.
"The situation is aggravated by the fact that the forced labor causes deadly accidents," the resolution says.
"These actions of local authorities are againt the law and damage Uzbekistan's reputation and discredits the efforts of the government, aimed at reforming social and political life and improvement of the social and economic situation in the regions," the document stresses.
