At the extraordinary session of the regional council of deputies chaired by the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov on Saturday, Farhod Ermanov, former Beruni district mayor of Karakalpakstan, has been appointed interim governor of Khorezm province, who previously worked as a hokim of the neighboring.

Farhod Ermanov, 59, is a graduate of Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Mechanization (1981) and Tashkent State Economic University (1996), the senator, the member of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial-Legal Issues.

In 1995-1998 he was the mayor of Amudarya district, in 2004-2010 - minister of agriculture and water management of Karakalpakstan.

Ilgizar Sabirov, who had served as the governor since September 2017 (in 2006-2015 he was the Senate chairman), is said to have left the post due to health reasons.
