The Uzbekistan's Labor Code was amended with an article prohibiting the refusal to hire former convicts (with the exception of cases provided for by law).

It is now also illegal to refuse to hire people whose close relatives have criminal conviction.

The bill amending the Article 78 ("Inadmissibility of illegal refusal to hire") of the code was passed by the Legislative Chamber on March 26 and approved by the Senate on March 29. The President signed the bill into law on April 18, and took effect on April 19.
