President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will pay a state visit to Uzbekistan this spring, the Turkmen Ambassador to Tashkent Shiri Shiriyev said.
"This year we are expecting a state visit of our esteemed President to Uzbekistan, many issues will be resolved during the visit. The agenda is not known yet, but we are preparing. I am unable to tell you the exact date of the visit, but we are working through diplomatic channels. Most likely the visit is due in the spring," the diplomat said in an interview.
Shiri Shiriyev underscored that in 2017 the Turkmen-Uzbek ties were leevate to a new level. According to him, strengthening the good-neighborly ties between Ashgabat and Tashkent is of strategic importance, and the regular meetings of the two leaders is an evidence of this.
"In particular, as you know, on March 6-7 last year, the first state visit of the respected President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was to Turkmenistan, and a little later in May - a working visit, during which the highest level of talks were held," the Ambassador said.
The results of these meetings, he said, gave a powerful impulse to bilateral ties and laid new constructive foundations in the bilateral relations in all areas on a long-term, strategic perspective.
