A 4-year-old girl has died after being beaten by her foster mother in the Kasbi District of Kashkadarya Province, the office of Children's Ombudsman confirmed.
According to the office, a quarrel broke out on September 26 between a married couple, 38-year-old N. A. and 32-year-old I. S., during which the woman beat her foster daughter. The girl suffered a serious head injury and died the same day.
On September 27, the investigative unit of the district police department opened a criminal case under clause "g" of Part 8 of Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code, which covers intentionally inflicting life-threatening bodily harm that results in the victim's death. The suspect was detained.
On September 30, the Kashkadarya Province prosecutor's office reclassified the case under Article 97 of the Criminal Code, the Intentional murder.
The Children's Ombudsman's office said it is monitoring the progress of the investigation.
