The Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan signed the Agreement on Legal Assistance and Cooperation on matters of ensuring protection of citizens' rights and freedoms, combating crime, and interaction between prosecutors of border provinces, the Uzbek prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
The signing ceremony reportedly took place as part of the visit to Tashkent of the Tajikistan delegation led by the Prosecutor General Yusuf Rahmon. The delegation was welcomed by the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, Otabek Murodov
The counterparts discussed the ways to ehance the effectiveness of cooperation in countering terrorism and religious extremism, as well as measures to ensure security and law and order in the region.
