Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed Measures to Boost Tourists Inflow Decree approving issuance of 72-hour short-term visas for transit passengers starting from May 1.
The decree provides for a short-term (from 8:00 to 21:00) controlled (accompanied) exit of transit passengers outside the border zone at the airport for a city tour.
The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to approve the list of countries whose citizens will be issued the said short-term visas upon arrival.
The passengers must hold an air ticket and (if necessary) a visa to a third country, in addition, it will be necessary to pay consular fees.
The document is aimed at “increasing the tourist inflow to Uzbekistan and making tourism one of the important sectors of the economy.”
