Two people suspected of kidnapping have been detained in Tashkent, the Interior Ministry said. According to the ministry, a citizen filed a complaint with its Operational Investigation Department. The complainant said unknown persons had abducted them in a car and that they escaped by putting up fierce resistance.

Officers of the department carried out an operation and detained two suspects. They were born in Tashkent in 2003 and 1998 and had previously been convicted of theft. A sharp-edged axe found in the trunk of the suspects’ car was logged as evidence under procedure.

During questioning, the detainees admitted the allegations. A check of their phones turned up Telegram messages with the customer who had hired them. They had been told to bring the complainant to the customer by any means. The messages also showed that they were to bring another citizen by force, even by hitting the person on the neck with a stun gun to “put them to sleep” if necessary.

The suspects waited nearly four hours outside the second citizen’s workplace. When they learned the person had gone on a business trip, they postponed the plan to another day.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 137 (Kidnapping), part 2, clauses (b) and (c), of the Criminal Code.
