A 20-year-old pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car at a zebra crossing in Tashkent on Oct. 22, the Millar news program reported.
The accident happened at 3 p.m. A driver, 20, behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Onix, struck a female pedestrian as she crossed. Witnesses said she bled heavily from the head after the impact.
An ambulance was called to the scene and took her to hospital, where he died despite the care she received.
Officers of the Road Safety Directorate of the Tashkent City Police Department are looking into the circumstances of the accident, the program noted.
It said the authorities had installed a traffic light at the location to improve road safety.
Earlier, 457 road accidents were reported in Tashkent province in the first nine months of the year, 37.9% fewer than in the same period last year.
