Uzbekistan's international trade rose by $4 billion, or 7.6%, in January-August from a year earlier, according to the National Statistics Committee.
Exports totaled $22.9 billion and imports $34.5 billion over the period, leaving a trade deficit of $11.6 billion, the amount by which imports exceeded exports.
Exports accounted for about 40% of total trade turnover and imports for 60%.
Although overall exports declined, exports of goods excluding gold increased. They reached $11.5 billion in January-August, up 28.7% from the same period of 2025. The figure refers strictly to non-gold goods.
Top trading partners
Over the eight months, Uzbekistan traded with more than 200 countries. The largest shares of total trade turnover were held by:
- China: 23%
- Russia: 16%
- Kazakhstan: 6.5%
- Turkey: 3.4%
- Afghanistan: 2.5%
China and Russia together accounted for 39% of the country's trade turnover, while the five countries combined made up 51.4%.
