Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Program, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Aishe Cihan Sultanoglu visited the Samarkand City Civil Court and got acquainted with the work of the national information system legal proceedings E-SUD and the basic services, provided for citizens.
Cihan Sultanoglu arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the international conference “Central Asia: One Past and a common future, cooperation for sustainable development and mutual prosperity”.
The foreign guest got acquainted with automatic preparation of judicial documents and decisions based on developed samples and templates, automatic distribution of civil cases among judges, search in the database, automation of a unified database of judicial documents, and preparation of court reports.
The E-SUD information system was developed in 2013 and is implemented within the framework of a joint project of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Development Program “Rule of Law in Uzbekistan”. The system operates in all inter-district, city and district courts on civil affairs of Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the effectiveness of the system was emphasized, which helps significantly save time in drafting judicial acts and reducing the paperwork. After implementation of the system, the efficiency of the provided services increased by approximately 50%, and cases of loss of documentation were completely excluded.
Practical manuals, prepared within the framework of the project “Rule of Law in Uzbekistan” aimed at raising the level of legal awareness and legal culture of the population, as well as improving access to justice were also presented.
