The director of the Tashkent IT vocational college, Senator Agrepina Shin has been appointed the minister of preschool education, a source in the government said.
Sobitkhon Turgunov, who previously was the first deputy minister of public education, has become the deputy minister.
The Ministry of Preschool Education was established by the September 30 Presidential decree.
The ministry has been tasked with implementing preschool education policies, expanding the network of state and non-state preschools, providing them with qualified teachers, increasing the coverage of children with preschools, introducing modern programs and technologies into education and improving the quality of children's preparation for school.
On Thursday, the President of Uzbekistan held a meeting devoted to fundamental improvement of the preschool education system. He stressed that within the next three to four years, all 5-6-year-old children of Uzbekistan will be fully covered by the system of preschool education.
