Before the meeting of the heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two leaders discussed the implementation of the previously set plans.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that a lot has changed in the country over the past year, and the interaction between Russia and Uzbekistan has significantly expanded - now it is not only the oil and gas sector, but also light industry, agriculture, high technologies and cultural-humanitarian ties.

"Very many industries have stepped up cooperation, businesses are building ties, namely cooperation in the textile industry, military-technical cooperation. We have a lot to discuss and talk about on the sidelines of the CIS summit," he said.

Vladimir Putin stressed that "I would like to note that on both sides our colleagues are actively working to implement the agreements that we had during Your visit to Russia. Now we have significant results. If last year we had a small decrease in trade turnover, this year there is a surplus of over 20% in eight months of this year and taking into account trade through third countries - by almost 40%." Putin said.
