Delegation of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church led by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill will visit Uzbekistan, UzA said referring to the Committee on Religious Affairs.
The visit will begin on September 29, and it is expected that Patriarch Kirill will be received the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Tashkent diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church marks its 145th anniversary this year, in connection with which a solemn event will take place in Turkiston palace, which will be attended by the delegation of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Patriarch Kirill is also scheduled to hold meetings with the leadership of the Committee on Religious Affairs and the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan and visit the Central Asian metropolitan district, the Tashkent monasteries and churches, meet with the believers.
During the Samarkand visit, the delegation members will lay flowers at the grave of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, visit the Khodja Daniyar (Prophet Daniel or St. Daniil) Mausoleum, the Alekseev Cathedral and other sights. The guests are also expected to visit Bukhara and explore its historical monuments.
