The Interim President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on October 25 signed the law "On ratification of the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention №87 of the International Labour Organization (San Francisco, July 9, 1948)."

The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on 6 October and approved by the Senate on October 12.

№87 Convention was adopted at the 31st session of the ILO General Conference in 1948 and entered into force in 1950. Being one of the eight fundamental ILO conventions it has been ratified by 153 ILO member-states.

The Convention foresees the right of workers and employers to establish and to join organizations, the workers' and employers' organisations shall have the right to draw up their constitutions and rules, to elect their representatives in full freedom, to organise their administration and activities and to formulate their programmes, the public authorities shall refrain from any interference which would restrict this right or impede the lawful exercise thereof. Workers' and employers' organisations shall not be liable to be dissolved or suspended by administrative authority, as well as measures to ensure that workers and employers may exercise freely the right to organize.

Ratification of ILO Convention №87 will facilitate further integration of Uzbekistan into the international and regional organizations, and improve the protection the interests of workers and employers in accordance with international standards.
