Today, Uzbek para-athlete Asila Mirzayorova won a gold medal in the long jump competition at the Paris Paralympics. In the T11 category (classifies athletes with visual impairments), the Uzbek athlete jumped 5.22 meters in her first attempt, breaking the Paralympic record. The previous best result belonged to Purificacion Ortiz from Spain, who jumped to 5.07 meters at the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta.
After her fifth attempt, Mirzayorova again broke her own Paralympic record - 5.24 meters. She showed the same result at the 2022 Asian Paralympic Games, where she also won gold.
