An experimental motorcycle traffic police unit was created in Tashkent, the Tashkent Police Department announced in a statement. It will be responsible for traffic enforcement, patrol duties, escorts and ensuring safety at places of mass gatherings.
Motorcycles are highly maneuverable and their high acceleration response capabilities make them excellent tools for traffic law enforcement in any congested area.
The unit was established from among officers who have an "A" category driver's license and experience in driving a motorcycle, and they underwent motorcycle driving classes on a special autodrome.
After completion of courses starting from August 16, motorcycle officers began patrolling the city. If the experiment is justified, they will ensure safety on roads on an ongoing basis.
