The Uzbek aviation authorities held talks in Tashkent on Saturday with a delegation of Turkey's aviation authroties, led Bahri Kesici, the head of Civil Aviation Directoraet within Turkish Ministry of transport, maritime affairs and communications.
The counterparts reportedly discussed new aspects of bilateral cooperation in particular Bahri Kesici noted that strengthening of cooperation with Uzbekistan was one of the key vectors of the Turkish foreign policy. They also considered the issues of opening new flights and modifying the bilateral Air Services Agreement and a number of issues on commercial cooperation between the designated airlines of the two countries.
The Protocol of the meeting was signed following the talks, according to which the designated airlines have been granted the right to operate regular flights between Samarkand and Istanbul during the winter period 2017/2018, one flight a week, and starting from the summer schedule - two flights per week by each air carrier, while the frequency of flights between Tashkent and Istanbul will remain unchanged.
Both sides expressed confidence in fruitful cooperation aimed at increasing passenger traffic between Uzbekistan and Turkey and increase the tourist potential of both countries.
