Tashkent’s Uchtepa district criminal court at a closed meeting on March 12, issued a verdict against a man found guilty of a sexual offense against a minor, the press service of Children's Ombudsman said.
The man was convicted under Committing indecent acts without the use of violence against a person under 14 years of age charge (punishable by a house arrest from 3 to 5 years or imprisonment from 3 to 5 years).
As the office of the children's ombudsman clarified, the child was climbing in the elevator with a stranger when he, without getting naked, committed indecent acts.
“According to the new procedure for liability for this category of crimes, after this sentence takes effect, no measures to mitigate the punishment can be applied to the convicted person; he will serve the sentence in full,” the message says.
“The use of this approach should be consistently maintained, and in this regard, a unified judicial practice should be formed in the country,” she noted.
