56 foreign companies providing online services in Uzbekistan paid 69.8 billion soums, US$ 5.6 million in taxes In 2023, which is by 1.5 times more than in 2022 (44.9 billion), the Tax Committee said.
The number of foreign Internet companies that pay VAT in Uzbekistan increased from 40 to 56, and their income reached 635.1 billion soums, US$ 51 million which is 1.8 times more than in the previous year (348 billion soums).
Almost all tax revenues come from 10 companies:
- Meta - 26.4 billion soums;
- Google - 20.3 billion soums;
- Apple - 12.9 billion soums;
- Amazon - 2.2 billion soums;
- Booking.com - 1.6 billion soums;
- Netflix - 1.2 billion soums;
- Xsolla - 816.1 million soums;
- Zoom - 763.3 million soums;
- Yandex - 690.4 million soums;
- Adobe Systems - 436.9 million soums.
It is worth noting that Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) provided 238.9 billion soums (an increase of 2.5 times) worth of online services worth which indicates increased spending by companies on advertising and promotion on social networks.
Amazon appeared on the list for the first time, registering for tax purposes in Uzbekistan in July last year and immediately taking 4th place in tax payments among Internet companies, earning 22.6 billion soums.
More and more Uzbeks are buying subscriptions to the Netflix streaming service, which has doubled its income over the year to 10.1 billion soums.
