At the plenary session of the Senate, the senators reviewed the Children's Ombudsman Bill. The Bill proposed that draft regulations related to the rights, freedoms and legal interests of children shall be mandatorily agreed with the Children's Ombudsman representative of the child's rights.
The report of the Children's ombudsman is supposed to be heard every year at the meetings of the chambers of the parliament. Children's ombudsman could be able to make submissions to senior officials about the elimination of causes and conditions that enable breaches of children's rights related regulations.
The Children's Ombudsman is proposed to be also empowered to use the right to be immediately received by the heads of organizations and other officials regarding issues related to their activities.
The Bill proposes to appoint provincial representatives of the Children's Ombudsman in the Karakalpakstan autonomy, the provinces and Tashkent city, and the possibility for children in social and legal assistance centers for minors and in specialized educational institutions, investigative detention centers and educational colonies to send written appeals to the Children's Rights Representative.
At the end of the discussions, the respective decision of the Senate was made to pass the Bill.
