Post about domestic violence has spread on Instagram. The Nemolchi.uz project against violence in Uzbekistan has called on those responsible to take action.

The post about the beating of a 25-year-old woman by her husband was posted by the victim's sister. According to information on social networks, Zh.E., a cosmetologist, had been providing for her husband for a long time, while enduring beatings and abuse from him. On August 16, he brutally beat her again.

"I waited for him to fall asleep, and was able to escape with my youngest son in the morning at 6:00 am," the woman said.

The video from CCTV cameras published in the post shows how the victim quickly runs away from the house, carrying only the child in her arms. The post also includes photos of the girl, which show large bruises and swelling on her face and head.

Relatives and neighbors could presumably have known about the long-standing conflicts, but no one took action. Activists asked the Ministry of police to pay attention to this case.

The Surkhandarya province police department reported that it had investigated the situation.

According to the department, on the night of August 15-16, at about 2:30 a.m., in the Mehrabad neigborhood of Termez, a domestic conflict occurred between a man T. E. and his wife Zh. E., during which T. E. inflicted bodily harm on his wife by hitting her in the face and ear.

The Crime Prevention Service at the Termez city police department is conducting a pre-investigation check on this incident.

"Legal measures will be taken. Considering that, according to information on social networks, the woman was under constant pressure and violence from her husband, but had not previously contacted the internal affairs agencies, these circumstances are being examined separately," the Department of police reported.

According to the Supreme Court, 4,952 people were prosecuted for domestic violence in the first half of the year, including 3,200 fined, 1,752 arrested, and 231 people for the same crime committed repeatedly or with aggravating circumstances. Of these, 65 were sentenced to imprisonment, and 166 to other types of punishment.
