During his trip to the United Arab Emirates, Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the President of the World Meteorological Organization, Director General of the UAE National Meteorological Center Abdullah Al Mandus, the Foreign Minister said in his Telegram channel.

“We were provided information about advanced technologies and new techniques developed in the UAE, including cloud seeding, and discussed the prospects for implementing their experience in Uzbekistan, especially in the Aral Sea region,” he wrote.

Bakhtiyor Saidov also met with UAE Minister for Climate Change and Environment Mariam Almheiri. “We paid special attention to combining our efforts in the areas of water scarcity, water desalination, biodiversity protection, afforestation, as well as the introduction of the best practices of the UAE in these areas in Uzbekistan,” the Uzbek Foreign Minister said.

Cloud seeding is the process of artificially modifying the weather to increase rainfall in dry regions. In 1990, the UAE launched the Precipitation Enhancement Research Program (UAEREP) using this method.

Clouds are seeded from airplanes with natural salts such as potassium chloride and sodium chloride, which attract water particles to themselves, they combine with each other and become heavier, then precipitation falls.
