Today at the Petersburg International Economic Forum, an agreement was signed on the delivery of Russian gas to Uzbekistan, as well as a Roadmap for the preparation of Uzbekistan’s gas transport system for the acceptance and transportation of Russian gas. The delivery of Russian gas to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan will begin in the Q4 of 2023, the Ministry of Energy added.

At the end of January 2023, the Ministry of Energy and the Russian Gazprom signed a roadmap for cooperation in the gas industry. Prior to this, Gazprom had signed a similar document with Kazakhstan a week earlier. In November, Russia proposed to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to create a "tripartite gas union", while the Russian authorities stated that this proposal did not imply the supply of gas in exchange for political conditions, but it was about the coordination of commercial interests.

In April, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov announced that it was planned to supply gas from Russia to Uzbekistan through the Central Asia-Center (CAC) gas pipeline.
