Another batch of humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan for Afghanistan left Termez for Hairatan today on April 19, the press service of the Surkhandarya province governor’s office said.

The cargo included 48 tons of flour, 48 tons of wheat, 15.7 tons of vegetable oil, more than 10 thousand pieces of canned meat (stewed), 22 tons of pasta, 24 tons of sugar, 100 thousand units of instant food.

The hand-over ceremony took place on the same day in Hairatan, and was attended by the President’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev, Surkhandarya province governor Anvar Oripov and Minister of Economy of the Afghan Caretaker Government Din Muhammad Khanif.

Afghan officials expressed their gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan for their help during the holy month of Ramadan.

The parties also spoke about the development of mutual trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the provinces.
