At a Government hour at the Legislative Chamber of, the MPs discussed the progress of the items outlined in the Digital Uzbekistan-2030 strategy.

Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov took questions from deputies on this topic.

“In order to develop the network of international and long-distance communications, the total Internet connection bandwidth has been increased by 2.6 times - up to 3,200 Gbps. The capacity of main networks has been increased to 600 Gbps at the inter-provincial level and up to 60 Gbps at the inter-district level. While, an increase of the Internet speed, the Internet price reduction for operators and providers by 25%, compared with the beginning of 2021 were made possible in the country. In addition, another 102,000 km of fiber-optic lines were laid, the total length topping 170,000 km. As a result of the installation of an additional 1.7 million broadband access ports over the past two years, it has been possible to connect 4.4 million households, business entities and the social facilities to broadband Internet,” Shermatov said.

According to him, there are 31 million Internet users in Uzbekistan. The number of mobile Internet users is at 29.5 million people. Also, over the past two years, 22,300 additional base stations have been installed, bringing the total number to 54,000.

“The level of mobile communications coverage has reached 99%, broadband mobile Internet coverage is 98%,” he said.

At the event, the MP Oidin Abdullayeva asked what measures were being taken to train women in the IT field and improve their knowledge. The minister said that certain projects had been launched in cooperation with international organizations.

Answering questions about the progress on further expand e-government services and increase the share of automated services, the minister noted that 358 types of services were provided online through the Govt portal of interactive services. Payment processes for all relevant e- services were connected to the single billing system. As a result of complex integration, 19 types of public services provide six types of composite services.
