The Russian foreign minister reacted to the news about the possible inking of a tripartite gas union with the participation of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The Uzbek authorities informed that the import of energy resources will be carried out only on a commercial basis.

There are no geopolitical games in the idea of creating a "gas union" between Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia, Sergey Lavrov told Kazakh Khabar 24 TV channel.

"At the same time, the initiative to set up a "trilateral" project on gas between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is being discussed. Analysts, especially those in the West, immediately started talking about this being some kind of political or geopolitical "game". There is no "game" here," RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying.

According to him, the countries have a common gas transportation system and all parties are interested in ensuring that supply is not interrupted due to seasonal peaks.

"Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are neighbors with a common gas transportation system. They are interested in the fact that the gas supply will not be interrupted, taking into account the seasonal peaks of gas consumption. Recently, I read reports that there was a sudden shortage of electricity in Uzbekistan. This is a clear example of how we should use our opportunities to solve practical issues in the interest of our citizens without any politicization or ideologies," he added.
