Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed to facilitate passport control when crossing the border, announced the Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Aibek Artykbaev at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament of Kyrgyzstan) on international affairs, defense, security and migration, the 24.kg reported.
According to him, an ID-card of citizens of both countries will be sufficient to cross the border. Citizens under the age of 16 will present a passport when crossing the border.
“The relevant MoM will be signed during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan on December 9,” he added.
Ahead of the visit, both countries ratified an agreement on separate sections of the state border and an agreement on the joint management of the Andijan (Kempir-Abad) reservoir. Thus, the delimitation of the joint border line has been completed.
