The launch ceremony of the Corporate Sports Association set up to popularize physical activity among businesses took place on May 8 in Tashkent, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.
The Association set itself objectives including holding Corporate Sports Games in team sports between sports clubs of corporate entities.
The chief of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Davron Vakhabov was elected Chairman of the Corporate Sports Association, and Sherzod Sattarov was elected Executive Director.
The owner of AKFA Group, Jakhongir Artykhodjaev, was elected First Deputy Chairman, and the owner of International Beverages Tashkent, Shukhrat Ergashev, was elected as Deputy.
The board of the association includes business leaders responsible for promoting certain sports:
- Bekzod Mamatkulov (BMB Holding) — football and futsal;
- Zafar Khashimov (Korzinka) — basketball;
- Bakhodir Abdullaev (B.A.Holding) — table tennis;
- Murad Nazarov (Murad Buildings) — athletics.
In August 2024, Uzbekistan joined the International Association for the Development of Corporate Sports along with Serbia, the UAE, Greece, Morocco, Turkey, Russia, and Iran.
