Uzbekistan and Russia are readying a comprehensive strategic partnership declaration. The accord could be signed during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Deputy Foreign Minister Ilkhom Nematov said that the visit of the head of state to Russia is scheduled for the second half of June 2020. The agenda includes the forums of provinces and rectors, a media forum and other business events.

The Foreign Ministers of the two countries Abdulaziz Kamilov and Sergey Lavrov on April 22 in a telephone conversation discussed the preparation of the visit "at the scheduled timeline."

The parties agreed to continue work on shaping the agenda of the summit, as well as agreeing bilateral accords.

The two ministers considered the bilateral ties Russia in the framework of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the CIS. The ministers also exchanged views on holding the next third meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asia and Russia C5+RF.

The foreign ministers also discussed the situation around the coronavirus in the world and expressed interest in continuing close cooperation in preventing and overcoming the consequences of the pandemic.
