A proposal to implement English-language instruction at some schools in Uzbekistan was put forward in a presentation on developing the education system that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed Wednesday.
The meeting discussed updating school textbooks, developing students' knowledge and practical skills and improving the assessment system. Proposals also included using artificial intelligence to give teachers methodological support and expanding private sector participation.
On vocational education, the meeting considered identifying young people's interests early, aligning technical college curricula with labor market needs and strengthening their facilities. It also looked at expanding dual education with enterprises and deploying international programs and modern teaching materials.
In higher education, proposals included more university autonomy, better management and greater accountability of university leaders for results. The meeting also discussed cooperation with leading foreign universities, closer links between education and industry and stronger practical training for students.
In science, the focus was on developing research clusters and cooperation among universities, laboratories and enterprises. Proposals were also presented on putting research into practice and creating new products and companies from it.
Mirziyoyev stressed that all stages of education, from kindergarten to university, should work as a single system, with particular attention to continuity between schools and universities. Officials were instructed to refine the proposals thoroughly.
