One person has been killed in a road accident involving a traffic police inspector in Zomin District, Jizzakh Province.
The crash occurred overnight on Sept. 26-27 in the Yoshlik neighborhood of the district.
A 34-year-old driver, identified as D.A., was in a Chevrolet Lacetti, stopped behind a truck that was turning left ahead. Another Lacetti, driven by J.A., 27, an inspector with the Jizzakh Province traffic police, then struck the stopped car from behind.
The impact pushed the front Lacetti into the truck. A passenger in that car, F.R., 35, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and placed in intensive care.
The father of three died despite medical treatment.
The inspector was driving drunk. An inquiry is under way.
As reported earlier, 22 road accidents were recorded in Tashkent in a single day, leaving four people seriously injured.
