Special forces from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Türkiye took part in the multinational joint exercise “Eternal Brotherhood-V” in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said.
Troops practiced combat operations in mountainous terrain and populated areas, infiltrating behind simulated enemy lines and freeing hostages.
The ministry said the exercise was aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region and developing military cooperation.
Participants also rehearsed reconnaissance and the seizure of key facilities. In counterterrorism drills, they practiced hostage rescue and the protection of strategic facilities. They conducted live-fire exercises by day and night with firearms of various calibers, sniper rifles and specialized equipment.
The ministry said Azerbaijani service members showed a high level of combat readiness and professional skill. Major General Alakbar Jahangirov, commander of Azerbaijan’s Special Operations Forces, watched the final stage with the exercise leadership and praised the skills and training of Azerbaijani special forces personnel.
A ceremony was held at the end to honor a group of service members who showed exemplary performance.
The exercise brought together special units from the three countries to exchange experience and improve coordination in planning and conducting joint operations. Participants posed for a commemorative photo at the close.
