New passenger terminal project is underway at the Andijan International Airport, the Uzbekistan Airports said in a statement.
The new terminal, spanning 19,650 square meters, will be roughly 8.2 times larger than the airport's current facility. Its capacity will rise from 200 to 1,000 passengers per hour.
Once complete, the airport will be able to handle around 1 million passengers annually. The existing terminal, built in 1979, covers just 2,402.4 square meters.
Uzbekistan Airports is carrying out the project independently, without a private investor or public-private partnership arrangement. Construction on the new terminal is currently about 40% complete.
The airport has already finished reconstructing and expanding its runway, taxiways and part of its aircraft parking area. Passenger traffic at Andijan airport grew by 2,249% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, though from a low base.
The new terminal is on schedule to be completed by the end of 2026.
