Under a new departmental regulation adopted at the initiative of the Justice Ministry, the procedure for purchasing cash foreign currency at banks has been simplified.
Uzbek citizens can now buy up to $500 in cash foreign currency without presenting identification documents. Previously, the threshold for purchases without a passport or ID card was just $100 — meaning the new rule raises the limit fivefold.
The change is set out in a departmental regulation registered with the state on May 8, 2026, under registration number 2886-12, which took effect on August 9 of this year.
The Justice Ministry said the move is aimed at making banking services more convenient for the public.
