President signed the Additional Measures for Socio-Economic Development of Tashkent City in 2026–2027 decree putting up thirty-five markets and trade complexes in Tashkent for sale, along with their branch outlets for public auction.

Under the decree, Tashkent Invest Company; will act as the authorized organizer of the sales, drawing up a ready-made business plan for each property before it goes to auction. In exchange, the company will receive 1 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the markets, along with reimbursement for the costs of conducting the auctions.

Whoever acquires the markets and trade complexes will be required to replace them with modern eco-markets, trade and service centers, entertainment facilities, and multi-story parking structures.

According to the decree, branches of Tashkents other farmers (food) markets, as well as specialized and general-goods markets (trade complexes), together with their vacant plots, will be sold through electronic online auctions at appraised value, based on master plans and terms to be established separately.

The same presidential decree had earlier introduced a requirement to open bookstores in Tashkents major shopping centers.
