By his December 24 decree, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed decree approving additional bank holidays (days off) during official celebrations in 2026.
The decree is reportedly aimed at "creating conditions to fully rest during official celebrations and ensuring the effective use of weekends and holidays for the development of domestic and pilgrimage tourism."
Additional bank holidays:
- Wednesday, December 31, 2025 — for all workers (regardless of the type of business week);
- Friday, January 2, 2026, Thursday, May 28, Friday, May 29, and Monday, August 31 — for all workers;
- Saturday, January 3, Saturday, May 30, and Thursday, December 31 — for workers with a six-day business week.
Transfer of bank holidays due to holidays:
- March 8 — Women's Day (Sunday) + March 9 (Monday);
- March 21 — Navruz (Saturday) + March 23 (Monday — for workers with five-day business week);
- May 9 — Remembrance and Honor Day (Saturday) + May 11 (Monday — for workers with five-day business week).
Workday Transfer
- For workers with five-day business week, Thursday, December 31 will be a bank holiday due to the workday being transferred to Saturday, December 12.
Which weekends will be longer?
- New Year 2026 — 5 days (December 31 — January 4);
- March 8 — 3 days (March 7-9);
- Navruz — 3 days (March 21-23) — expected to coincide with Eid al-Fitr;
- May 9 — 3 days (May 9-11);
- Eid al-Adha — 4 days (May 28-31);
- Independence Day – 4 days (August 29 – September 1);
- New Year 2027 – 4 days (December 31 – January 3).
