The phase I of the arrivals hall reconstruction project at the Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport has been completed, the Uzbekistan Airports said in a statement today.
Reportedly, only the right part of the hall was renovated in the first phase, the total area was expanded, a new lane for vehicles and buses, a 120-seat parking lot were built, and a green area was created.
“The expansion of the building facade made it possible to increase the area of the arrival hall by 2,100 sqm. As a result, the customs area was expanded, an additional cargo carousel was installed, and for the first time a 120-seat area was created for waiting passengers inside the terminal,” the report says.
In addition to the waiting area, a specially allocated corridor connected to the hall for short-term stops was opened. Now both taxis, private cars and buses can enter the hall. The wait time in the corridor just like in the corridor in the departure hall is 10 minutes.
The second phase of the reconstruction is due to be completed before 2026. It includes the erection of an additional cargo belt, the expansion of the waiting area with cafes, shops and other services.
The final phase is the unification of the arrivals and departures halls into a single terminal complex. Upon completion, the total area of the terminal will surpass 10,000 square meters, with the throughput expected to reach 2,400 passengers per hour.
