The Presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Bulgaria Rumen Radev held talks in Tashkent with the participation of official delegations, the presidential press service said. 

Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the first summit in 17 years will be historic and will take Uzbek-Bulgarian relations of friendship and partnership to a qualitatively new level. 

They underscored the importance of building systemic contacts between foreign ministries in order to strengthen multifaceted cooperation and discussed increasing the bilateral trade, primarily through expanding supplies of textile, food, chemical and pharmaceutical products, metal products and technological equipment. 

The parties made a decision to boost trade, open trading houses in the capitals, accredit laboratories and allocate soft credit lines and identified joint projects in the agro-industrial complex and food industry, pharmaceuticals, geology, artificial intelligence, digital technologies and IT, tourism as priority goals. 

The leaders alos focused on the development of effective land and air corridors and agreed to explore the possibility of launching direct flights between the two countries (in the summer tourist season, a charter program is in effect: Uzbekistan Airways flies to the resort city of Burgas). 

In order to establish systemic interaction in the field of labor resources, the opening a representative office of the Uzbekistan Migration Agency of in Sofia will be reviewed. 

The parties supported initiatives to step up humanitarian ties, including academic and scientific exchanges, including holding a meeting of rectors of leading universities in Andijan this year. 

An agreement was reached to organize a Week of Uzbek and Bulgarian Culture and Cinema next year. 

The parties agreed to adopt a joint road map and raise the level of the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission, involving heads of provinces and large companies in its work. 

At the end of the meeting, the President Rumen Radev invited President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Bulgaria on a return visit at a convenient time.
