Today at the Kuksaroy palace, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico, the presidential press service said.
During the talks, the two leaders commended the enhanced cooperation in all areas, with the established political contacts between the Foreign Ministries, business and humanitarian exchanges, and the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission taking place in May.
Reportedly, given the modern challenges and the unpredictable international situation, they underscored the importance of systemic interaction, coordination and support through foreign policy agencies, including within the framework of partnership with European institutions.
The parties discussed the ways to increase the two-way trade, primarily by expanding the deliveries of textile, agricultural, electrical, chemical products, polymers from Uzbekistan, and rubber, auto components, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial goods from Slovakia.
As part of the implementation of the signed agreements in the field of technical regulation and metrology, they pointed to the importance of lifting technical barriers and launching a quantum standard laboratory.
An agreement was reached on the preparation of a full-scale industrial cooperation program with leading companies in Slovakia for projects in the agro-industrial complex, localization of auto components, production of pharmaceuticals, as well as projects in the field of "green" energy and tourism.
As part of the work in the field of implementation of digital solutions and startup investments, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to set up a joint venture fund for the acceleration of IT startups.
While in the educational sphere, they confirmed mutual interest in the development of educational and academic exchanges, reaching an agreement on launching joint research programs, including with the participation of Comenius University in Bratislava.
The parties agreed to adopt a program of cooperation in the field of culture, which provides for holding exhibitions, film screenings, concerts, as well as projects in the field of museum affairs.
Robert Fico voiced interest in establishing systemic cooperation in the field of organized labor migration.
