Synthetic methane production pilot project for supply to residential buildings has been launched in Angren, Tashkent province, the press service of the province’s governor’s office said in a statement.
The project is being implemented by the Khududgaztaminot (government entity in charge of retail gas sales) and the Japanese ITO Corporation.
The equipment of the Japanese manufacturer has been installed in the Yangiabad neighbourhood. It manufactures synthetic methane gas by mixing propane with an air mixture.
The unit is currently operating in test mode and supplies gas to several apartment buildings.
“The initiative is being implemented with the assistance of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and is considered a strategic area for implementing of modern, eco-friendly technologies in Uzbekistan that contribute to increasing the efficiency of energy resources,” the statement added.
As part of the expansion program, the similar equipment is planned to be installed in other provinces of Uzbekistan.
