On Tuesday, May 27, short but heavy rains occurred in some villages of Zaamin district of Jizzakh province, which resulted in a mudflow, the provincial emergency department said.

Mudflows temporarily blocked part of the road in Duoba neigbourhood, covering it with sand and gravel.

According to the emergency department, residents, residential buildings, social facilities and livestock did not sustain any damages.

Efforts are being taken at the scene to handle the consequences with the involvement of engineering equipment.

The department called on the public to strictly abide by safety measures when traveling or on recreational tours in mountainous and foothill areas.

According to Uzgidromet, due to rains, mudflows and floods are possible in nine provinces of Uzbekistan from May 28 to June 2. In some areas, rainwater may accumulate, which may lead to flooding.
