On May 16, an ammonia leak occurred at the Indorama Kokand Fertilizers & Chemicals plant in Kokand. The press service of the Fergana province department of National Guard and the Ministry of Emergency Situations provided details of the incident.
When a hose ruptured while pumping liquid ammonia from a railway tank into a special container, approximately 10% of the ammonia leaked onto the plant's territory. National Guard servicemen, police officers, and emergency response officers arrived at the scene.
Plant employees and others were evacuated to a safe place. About 10 people sought medical assistance.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations added that seven people had sought help and had been sent home after examination. The roads leading to the plant have been blocked.
