The AEM-Spetsstal metallurgical plant in St. Petersburg, part of the machine-building division of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, has begun manufacturing the reactor equipment for the first power unit of the small-scale nuclear power plant (SSNPP) project in Uzbekistan.

Metallurgists have cast the first steel of the future RITM-200N reactor unit. The process was presented at the Power Uzbekistan 2025 exhibition as part of the International Energy Week of Uzbekistan, which began on May 13 in Tashkent.

As reported by the company, the ingot was cast from alloy steel weighing 205 tons. In the future, it is planned to manufacture a part of the RITM-200N reactor unit body from it, which will become part of the station.

In total, six RITM-200N reactor units are planned to be manufactured for the SSNPP project in Uzbekistan.
