President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has offered condolences to the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over the numerous casualties and injuries, as well as the massive destruction caused by the explosion at the Shahid Rajaee port in Bandar Abbas in the south of the country.
According to the presidential spokesman Sherzod Asadov, Shavkat Mirziyoyev had extended words of sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims, and also wished a swift recovery to the injured.
According to the IRNA news agency, 25 people were killed, 1,139 were injured, and 6 are missing following the explosion. A three-day mourning has been declared in Hormozgan province.
The Shahid Rajaee port is the largest container port in Iran, handling almost 80% of all containers in the country.
