A video footage surfaced on social networks showing a GM Lacetti car hitting a group of about 10 people crossing Rudaki street in Samarkand at a zebra crossing while speeding.
The footage shows cars stopping let the zebra crossing, then, when the people have crossed part of the crossing, some cars start moving. At this point, the Lacetti runs over adults and children, who are thrown forward several meters by the impact. The car can also be seen running over at least one person. Pedestrians run up to the pedestrians lying on the ground, they pick up the children and help others to get up.
The press service of the Samarkand province traffic police department reported that the accident had occurred on the evening of April 11. The Lacetti was driven by a 28-year-old driver, who was detained and taken into custody. The report does not say how many people were injured.
The spokesman to the provincial police department, Khamidullo Sagdullaev said that one person had been killed, and with five people injured.
